It's a production group I work with, we make beats for left feild hip-hop artists, but our blog page is used as a blog, and I will continue posting up free albums and interesting eclectic electronic music related stuff.

Probably should have dropped in a note, but I've been traveling South America for the past 4 months. As you can imagine, my RSS feed is a mess. I'm in Canada now, so will be harder for me to keep in touch with the Sydney scene, but I'm sure I'll have a lot of dope new Canadian shit soon too.

Stuart Buchanan presents a show called New Weird Australia, an Australian experimental music show on fbi radio, that he co-hosts with Danny Jumpertz. He previously presented the international Music show Disorient, and before that Fat Planet.

He has quite a few wonderful and unique blogs, and on one of them, discontent blog, he uses to distribute mixtapes. He has recently started adding guest mixtapes and he was kind enough to ask me to put one together.

I put together a few of my favorite tracks together, all of which have been made freely available online. A few of the tracks I have already posted on my blog, but a lot of them I haven't.

As summer gets ever closer, and as yesturday we had our first near 40 degree day, I thought I'd dump a few recent albums on a more chillout downtempo vibe.

There's heaps here and they should keep you going for a while. Most of them are off Matam, thanks for everything!

I recommend downloading them all (maybe waiting till you're off peak as there are some serious megabytes here), making an itunes playlist, mixing a jug of some kind of ice-tea cocktail, and sitting in the front of back garden with some friends and these beats on in the background, drinks and talking into the night.

AEED - Synesthesia

I have played quite a few singles from AEED on the show, which is why I'm stoked to be able to post this freebie.

The music is kind of like a mix between those lofi paddy synths that Tobacco uses, with a really broken but heavy Dilla drum break. Also uses samples in a cool kind of Madlib way, as long as I'm making comparisons.

Of course, it comes away sounding nothing like any of them.

When I stubbled upon this Instrumental Hip-hop album, I was going to post it straight away before I'd even heard it, simply as solidarity for cause.

Just in case it wasn't hardcore gangster rap/pro-censorship I ended up giving it a quick spin, and damn, this is completely dope.

Seriously, if you like your sample based instrumental hip-hop raw and heavy (don't we all?) then this is most definately for you (/all of us).

Super talented Hip-hop producer, Ilz was nice enough to give us this exclusive remix of Gotye's amazing "Heart's a Mess".

If I had to categorize this track, it would be somewhere around beautiful down-tempo dub/glitch hop.

He is truly super talented and having already appeared on a number of local releases (Natural Causes, Mind Over Matter) he is sure to be seen all over the big namers album in the near future.

I hope you've got a sub woofer for this one.

This week on The Get By, I 'm having a Glitch-Hop special, and whilst this album doesn't exactly fit into that category, it shares the genre's love of video game sounds.

This is a quirky little thing that I personally wouldn't turn up too loud, but is fun and will put a smile on your face.

A crazy group of frenchman breathing some (badly needed IMHO) new life through remixing and recreating some Daft Punk hits that we've all probably heard one too many times

I wasn’t sure if I would ever release another mix of this sort after the last one, but it’s been a couple years since my last official album and I’ve accumulated a large number of “left over” tracks that never found their way onto an official album. I also opened up the 4-track vault this year and was able to unearth some solid material that dates back to 1996.

If you haven't heard Exile's album 'Radio' yet you're certainly missing out. It is a definite contender for my album of the year so far (along side Profuse 73).

I find it really cool that a dude who used to produce music for uber gangsters Mobb Deep is now making an album about universal love and references Amazonian shamanism.

It's not as out there as some of the amazing tracks on his widely critized but incredably awesome "The New Danger", this still has some of that uniqueness about it.

I personally am not feeling the first minute of the track, but then I start to really get into it and now I love it.

Thanks to everyone who has been listening in the last few weeks.

It's been an exciting month getting this show off the ground. Send your love and hate mail here and let us know what you think. With your support we can keep this fledgling on air and keep this shit on your airways. If you've missed the show so far, some of the big names to grace the airwaves have included Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Sage Francis and El-P, plus a whole heap of local names too, including Horrorshow, Seth Sentry and Plutonic Lab.

The Get By aims to give a voice and an outlet to new hip hop talent in Australia, especially in Sydney. As well as spinning as much quality Sydney hip hop material as we can get our hands on, we've also had some of this city's most talented artists sitting down for a chat and a cup of Twinnings. Phatchance from Nurcha Records has popped in for a talk and a freestyle, young guns Mind over Matter programmed some tunes and those prodigies from Elephant Tracks, Horrorshow swore repeatedly. (Apparently you can't drop the C bomb on air...)

Tonight we had in graffiti artist and all round lovely lady Chez to talk about her upcoming event Platform 2 Hip Hop at Carriage Works and, more specifically, Can Control, an exhibition of the best names in Australian graffiti art.

Head along to check out Can Control this Saturday from 2.30pm to 5.30pm at Carriage Works in Redfern. It's a free event and some massive names in graffiti art will be there competing.

Hopefully you caught it and (even if you didn't) we'd love to hear your thoughts on the issue. How do you feel about the graffiti community in Australia?
